Advisee Spotlight: Ogbonna Ugwu-Uche

When CareerSpring Advisee Ogbonna Ugwu-Uche began studying Physics at Cornell University with a concentration in Computer Science, he was drawn to the challenge of using math to navigate complex problems and think in new ways. That same curiosity led him to CareerSpring, after hearing about it from a fellow student as a way to explore careers and gain confidence in professional spaces.

Over just a few months, Ogbonna has found CareerSpring to be a place where genuine connections thrive. “My favorite part of CareerSpring is how invested people are in your growth. Advisors treat you as individuals, recognize your potential, and are genuinely willing to provide feedback and support.” Through these interactions, Ogbonna has learned that networking is about more than collecting contacts—it’s about building relationships rooted in authenticity.

Through these conversations, Ogbonna has strengthened his ability to communicate authentically, improved his interview performance, and redefined what networking means—seeing it not as a transaction, but as an opportunity to build real connections. His advice for other first-generation and low-income students? “CareerSpring is a resource that rewards effort. To gain the most, you need to be disciplined, organized, and prepared for every conversation. Everyone’s time is valuable, so taking the platform seriously will help you reap its benefits. Most importantly, be yourself; your unique perspective is what will make you stand out and find authentic connections.”

CareerSpring Advisors are here to support you in your journey—no matter what your goals may be.
