Creating Connections & Opening Doors: CareerSpring Advisees Connect with Huron Consulting Group

This summer, we were proud to take our partnership with Employer Sponsor Huron Consulting Group to a new level of engagement by partnering with their First-Gen Professionals Network. Across two cities, Chicago and New York, Huron welcomed Advisees into their offices to explore careers in consulting, build practical skills, and expand their professional networks.

Huron opened their doors to our Advisees for this CareerSpring-exclusive event, where Advisees had the opportunity to meet first-generation professionals, listen to a career panel, then dive into an interactive case-study workshop to gain a deeper understanding of the industry. As the event closed with a dedicated networking hour, conversations touched on career journeys, workplace experiences, and the perspectives of first-generation professionals navigating their careers.

“Across conversations with employees at different levels of the firm, I was struck by how approachable and genuine everyone was.” shared Advisee Tyler Kang, “I left with a much better understanding of why Huron’s culture stands out, and I’m grateful to CareerSpring and Huron for creating this opportunity.”

And for some, this event even became a career-defining moment. “Consulting is now a career path that I am seriously considering. Post event, I gained so much more clarity than I had expected,” remarked Advisee Himani Niroula.

For Huron’s team, the event was an inspiring opportunity for volunteers to give back by sharing the knowledge they gained throughout their own career journeys. Gwennie O’Connell, Workday Consulting Senior Manager shared, “When I started interviewing for consulting jobs, I realized I had a lot to learn…I loved that this event provided a chance for many of our consultants to have an open dialogue with students interested in consulting and prepare them with tools for success.”

The afternoon was a strong example of what can happen when Employer Partners share their time and expertise directly with our Advisees. By creating space for honest conversation and connection, Huron helped them gain not only insight into consulting, but also greater confidence in pursuing opportunities within the field.

Maria Murphy, Digital Consulting Director, also shared her enthusiasm for collaborative events like these, “The Advisees who joined us at our Chicago office brought so much curiosity and drive to the conversation; their questions were sharp, their engagement genuine, and their energy reminded me of exactly why this work matters. I look forward to continuing to partner with CareerSpring and sharing lessons from my own journey with students exploring their paths.”

We’re grateful to Huron Consulting Group for continuing to invest in our mission and for bringing their first-generation professionals into our Network. Partnerships like this turn professional access into meaningful career momentum for our Advisees.
