Advisee Spotlight: Trang Hoang
When Advisee Trang Hoang first heard about CareerSpring from a friend at The University of Houston, she was actively searching for resources to help her navigate her career journey. That simple recommendation connected her to a Network that would help her build confidence, sharpen her interviewing skills, and ultimately launch her career.
Pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration, Trang turned to CareerSpring during a competitive internship recruitment season in search of guidance and support. Through consistent engagement with CareerSpring Advisors—scheduling multiple mock interviews and receiving personalized feedback—she quickly gained the skills and confidence needed to stand out.
Trang ultimately secured a Global Tax & Reporting Internship with our Employer Partner Genesys and has even been extended a return internship offer for 2027. Reflecting on her experience, Trang shared, “CareerSpring has played a pivotal role in helping me reach this milestone. Through consistent engagement with CareerSpring Advisors, meeting multiple times a week for mock interviews and receiving detailed, constructive feedback, I was able to significantly improve my interview skills and build confidence in presenting my experiences.”
Trang now pays it forward as a CareerSpring Ambassador, helping other FGLI students discover the same opportunities that transformed her own experience. “This internship with Genesys…will help me deepen my understanding of tax work. Because of this impact, I was motivated to become a CareerSpring Ambassador. I want to give back by sharing these powerful resources and opportunities with other first-generation students at the University of Houston, so they can build confidence and access the support needed to succeed in their career journeys.”
As a CareerSpring Ambassador, Trang has since supported and organized several in-person CareerSpring workshops, bringing mock interview practice and career resources to her fellow FGLI students at The University of Houston. Having experienced firsthand the power of connecting with CareerSpring through a peer, she now encourages others to take that same first step, no matter where they are in their career journey.

Instead, I feel prepared, confident, and motivated to move forward.”
