Advisee Spotlight: Emily Kim
For CareerSpring Advisee Emily Kim, every step toward her career success has been shaped by people who helped guide her along the way. As an FGLI student at Georgetown University, she was aware that as a psychology and philosophy major that her career path could lead her in many different directions. But like many students, the internship search felt overwhelming. As she sifted through and applied a plethora of opportunities, Emily found CareerSpring at just the right time.
“This Platform was exactly what I had been looking for while searching for a summer internship. After countless applications with little to no response, I was happy to learn that CareerSpring directly connects students with its Job Placement Team for targeted candidate searches.”
One conversation with an Advisor propelled Emily into the CareerSpring Network, continuing to have more conversations, build her confidence, and prepare for interviews. With our support, she secured a Human Resources internship with insurance company MS Transverse—an opportunity that not only gave her valuable experience, but also reshaped her understanding of what her future could look like. Emily shared, “My internship opened my eyes to career paths I had not previously considered…it gave me a clearer sense of the type of people-centered work I want to pursue moving forward.”
Emily’s story is a reminder that early career experiences are more than just resume builders, they are a foundation for clarity, confidence, and purpose. With the right opportunities and networks, students like Emily can discover new passions, develop their talents, and step into meaningful careers—and CareerSpring gives FGLI students and graduates what they need to succeed!
