Deepening Partnerships: CIBC & CareerSpring Co-Host Third Annual Career Panel

For the past three years, Employer Sponsor Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) has partnered with CareerSpring to co-host virtual information sessions and workshops for our Advisees—creating meaningful volunteer opportunities for their staff while offering valuable industry insights to first-generation, low-income (FGLI) students interested in careers in banking.

Since launching in 2021, this partnership has grown into a comprehensive collaboration rooted in shared purpose. Beyond co-hosted events, CIBC has consistently shown up for CareerSpring: providing financial support, connecting our Advisees to their early career opportunities, and engaging their employees as dedicated volunteers and Advisors. Together, we’ve supported Advisees in securing internships across CIBC teams, while also building a strong community of professionals committed to mentorship and access.

Mona Asra, CIBC’s Associate Managing Director-Manager, Inclusion & Diversity shared, “By investing our time as mentors we can open doors for first-generation students—offering guidance, confidence, and real-world insight that helps turn potential into possibility. When our employees show up with purpose, we don’t just support students—we help shape futures.”

CIBC represents the power of a truly holistic partnership—one that goes beyond a single program or event to create lasting impact for the FGLI students and graduates we serve. CareerSpring’s Regional Program Director, Margaret Falter, shared, “We are grateful for the partnership and unwavering commitment of CIBC to CareerSpring’s mission. Their team’s support continues to make a meaningful difference for our Advisees and allows us to expand our reach to more first-generation, low-income students across all regions."

Together, CareerSpring and CIBC are not only expanding access to careers in banking—they are helping build sustained pathways for FGLI talent to thrive. As this partnership continues to grow, so does its impact, ensuring more Advisees gain the exposure, experience, and support needed to turn opportunity into long-term career success.
