Advisee Spotlight: Jimena Vazquez

One of CareerSpring’s most powerful tools is our Network, connecting Advisees to opportunities while fostering personal and professional growth.

As Advisee Jimena Vazquez was beginning her career journey, she was introduced to CareerSpring through our Partner, Detroit Cristo Rey High School, during her sophomore year at the University of Michigan. From the start she took full advantage of our Platform’s resources, reaching key career milestones along the way. Jimena was accepted to CareerSpring’s FORWARD Internship Program as part of the 2025 Marketing Cohort and interned at Detroit Regional Dollars For Scholars—her first professional internship. She later became one of our student Ambassadors, connecting fellow FGLI students on campus to CareerSpring’s resources.

Throughout her journey, Jimena stayed in close contact with our Advisor Network, “CareerSpring has played a key role in helping me expand my network by connecting me with inspiring professionals who have guided and encouraged me to keep pushing toward my goals. As an Ambassador, I’ve seen firsthand how powerful it is to have access to a supportive network of professionals who genuinely want to help students succeed.”

Her continued engagement with CareerSpring led to a connection with a Talent Acquisition Manager at our Employer Partner Ally Financial, a conversation that later opened doors for her career. Jimena explains, “That connection was important in helping me learn more about opportunities at Ally Financial and ultimately contributed to securing my [HR Leadership & Talent Development] internship.”

Now Jimena strongly encourages other FGLI students to start taking advantage of CareerSpring’s resources. “The Platform has also helped me grow my confidence, develop professionally, and be more proactive in seeking opportunities,” she shares, “It truly empowers us to build connections…and believe in our potential.”

One conversation can make all the difference. Share our resources by becoming a Partner, or get involved to support students like Jimena by becoming a volunteer.
